250 gm kovakka / ivy gourd, cut lengthwise
4 green chillies, slit
3/4-1 cup grated coconut
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
2 piece kudampuli/ gambooge, soaked in water
1-2 sprig curry leaves
salt to taste
1 tbsp coconut oil
- Crush sliced shallots, grated coconut, green chillies,cumin seeds, turmeric powder, chilli powder, kudampuli, curry leaves and salt together with your hand.
- In a claypot/ pan, add the crushed mixture along with sliced kovakka , coconut oil and 2-3 tbsp water and mix well.
- Then cook it covered on low flame, stirring in between for about 12-15 minutes or until the kovakka is cooked and mixed well with all other ingredients.
- Remove from the flame and serve hot with rice...
