Peshawari Mutton / Mutton Peshawari Kadhai


3/4 kg mutton, cut into pieces
2 onion, chopped
4 tomatoes, chopped
1 tbsp ginger, chopped
3 tbsp garlic, chopped
2 green chillies, chopped
3/4 tsp fennel seeds
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 1/2 tsp pepper powder
2 tbsp coriander powder
1 tbsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp cumin powder
1 tbsp kasuri methi, crushed
1 tbsp mint leaves
3 tbsp coriander leaves
1/2 cup curd / yoghurt
salt to taste
4 tbsp oil

  1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add fennel seeds, ginger and garlic and saute till raw smell goes.
  2. Add chopped onions and saute for 2 minutes. 
  3. Add cleaned mutton pieces, chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, chilli powder, pepper powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, crushed kasuri methi, mint leaves, coriander leaves, curd, green chillies and salt and mix well.
  4. Add 2-3 tbsp of water, mix it well and pressure cook till done.
  5. Add chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with pathiri, chapati, naan etc..
